  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
For assembling and frying
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying Oil for frying
  • additional powdered sugar for dusting Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Stir in the diced strawberries.
  3. Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the cheesecake mixture in the center.
  4. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it over to form a triangle, sealing the edges tightly.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the wontons in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
  2. Serve warm on a plate with extra powdered sugar, vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

Notes

Do not overfill the wontons. Use about 1 tablespoon of filling. Press edges firmly and seal with a little water to stop leaking. Keep oil at 350°F for even cooking. Fry in small batches so the oil temperature stays steady. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
