Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and dried herbs.
  3. Stir in the cheddar cheese until well combined.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and melted butter, mixing until just combined.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared loaf pan, pressing gently to level.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a spicy version, add 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes and swap half the cheddar for pepper jack. For gluten-free, use a certified 1-to-1 gluten-free flour blend and add 1 teaspoon xanthan gum if needed.
