  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk Low-fat milk can be used for a lighter option.
Optional Add-ins
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella work well.
  • 1 cup scrambled eggs For added protein.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients for the biscuit base: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  4. Pour in buttermilk and stir until dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
Making the Gravy
  1. Cook the sausage in a pan over medium heat until browned.
  2. Add flour to the sausage to make a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until thickened.
Combining and Baking
  1. Layer the biscuits in a baking dish.
  2. Pour the sausage gravy over the biscuits.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, consider using mushroom gravy instead of sausage. Make sure not to overmix the biscuit dough for the best texture.
