  • 1 medium Granny Smith apple, sliced Provides tartness.
  • 2 tbsp Hot honey Adjust for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup Honey Base for the honey sauce.
  • 1 tbsp Red pepper flakes Add for spice.
  • 1 pinch Sea salt, flaky Enhances flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp Apple cider vinegar Adds a tangy flavor.
  • 8 slices Bread, artisan Use thick-cut bread for sturdiness.
  • 4 tbsp Butter, unsalted For grilling the sandwich.
  • 6 oz Cheddar cheese, sharp, grated Grate fresh for better melting.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the beef bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced Granny Smith apple and sauté briefly in the bacon drippings until slightly softened.
  3. In a bowl, mix the hot honey, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Butter one side of each slice of artisan bread.
Assembly and Grilling
  1. On the unbuttered side of the bread, layer cheddar cheese, cooked bacon, sautéed apples, and a drizzle of the honey mixture, then top with another slice of bread.
  2. Cook each sandwich in the skillet, buttered side down, until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Flip and repeat on the other side.
  3. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm with a small salad or pickles. Store leftovers properly in the fridge for up to 2 days.
