Easy French Onion Soup Bites

A delightful twist on the classic French onion soup, these bite-sized treats are perfect for gatherings and packed with flavor.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bites 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp Thyme, fresh
  • 2 cups Yellow onions, sliced
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 package Crescent roll dough
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp White vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the crescent roll dough package instructions.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and thyme, cooking until the onions are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Stir in the beef broth and white vinegar, cooking until heated through.
  4. Roll out the crescent dough and cut it into squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the onion mixture onto each square and top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling and seal edges.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to caramelize the onions well for the best flavor. Use fresh thyme for more vibrant flavor. Customize the cheese if you prefer; other melty cheeses can work too.
