How to Make Cowboy Sliders

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground round
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 12-count package Hawaiian rolls, cut in half horizontally, without separating individual rolls
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked until crisp
  • 1 jalapeno, thinly sliced, or more to taste
  • 1/2 cup crispy fried onions

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook while crumbling with a spoon until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine. Then, add the barbecue sauce and mix until well combined. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

  3. Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls on a small rimmed baking sheet. Top with half of the shredded cheese. Add the beef mixture, crispy bacon, jalapenos, crispy onions, and the remaining cheese. Place the top half of the rolls on top and cover the pan with foil.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are toasted and the cheese is melted and gooey, about 15 to 20 minutes.

How to Serve Cowboy Sliders

Serve Cowboy Sliders hot out of the oven. You can cut them into individual sliders for easy serving. They pair well with potato chips, salad, or fries. Don’t forget to have extra barbecue sauce on the side for dipping!

How to Store Cowboy Sliders

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply warm them in the oven until heated through. You can also microwave them, but the oven will keep the sliders crispy.

Tips to Make Cowboy Sliders

  • Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • Feel free to add more toppings like pickles or extra veggies.
  • Make sure to cook the bacon until it’s very crispy to add texture to the sliders.

Variation

You can switch up the meat by using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. For a vegetarian option, try using black beans or a veggie burger patty.
