Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground pork
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 medium Onion (chopped)
- 1 tsp dried Sage
- 2 large Sweet potatoes (peeled and chopped)
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup Chicken stock
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup Maple syrup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup Heavy cream
- 1/4 cup Bourbon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together ground pork, minced garlic, chopped onion, sage, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and form the mixture into meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs until they are browned on all sides.
- Place the meatballs in a baking dish and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.
- While the meatballs are baking, boil the peeled and chopped sweet potatoes in salted water until tender. Then, drain them and mash with butter, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt.
- To make the sauce, combine chicken stock, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, and bourbon in a saucepan. Simmer the mixture until it slightly thickens.
- Serve the meatballs over the sweet potato mash and drizzle with the bourbon-maple sauce.
Notes
For spicier meatballs, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes. You can also substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
