Irresistible Pork Meatballs with Sweet Potato Mash & Bourbon-Maple Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground pork
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 medium Onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp dried Sage
  • 2 large Sweet potatoes (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Chicken stock
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup Maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Bourbon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together ground pork, minced garlic, chopped onion, sage, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and form the mixture into meatballs.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Place the meatballs in a baking dish and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, boil the peeled and chopped sweet potatoes in salted water until tender. Then, drain them and mash with butter, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt.
  6. To make the sauce, combine chicken stock, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, and bourbon in a saucepan. Simmer the mixture until it slightly thickens.
  7. Serve the meatballs over the sweet potato mash and drizzle with the bourbon-maple sauce.

Notes

For spicier meatballs, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes. You can also substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
