Gingerbread Cinnamon Molasses Dream

Ingredients

  • 2 Eggs, large
  • 1 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, packed dark
  • 3 tsp Cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 tsp Cloves, ground
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg, ground
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Butter, unsalted
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Water, hot

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg), and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually add in the molasses, buttermilk, milk, and hot water, mixing until combined.
  6. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. For frosting, beat the butter until creamy and gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until the desired consistency is reached.
  9. Let the gingerbread cool completely before frosting.

Notes

Make sure your butter is at room temperature for better mixing. For a richer flavor, let the cake sit for a day before serving.
