- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 2 (10.5 oz) cans French onion soup
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
- Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion, uncooked rice, French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, and beef broth. Mix thoroughly.
- Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
- If using, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
Customize with vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers. For a creamier texture, add a scoop of sour cream. Leftovers reheat well and can be frozen for up to 3 months.
