- 1 large Egg yolk
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp Red food coloring gel
- 2 tbsp Granulated sugar
- 18 Hershey chocolate kisses
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Red sanding sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 7 tbsp Butter, salted or unsalted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into small balls and roll each in granulated sugar and red sanding sugar.
- Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them out.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are set.
- Remove from the oven and press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, ensure your butter is at room temperature. You can add chocolate chips for extra flavor.
