Easy French Onion Soup Bites

A tasty twist on a classic French onion soup, these bite-sized snacks combine rich flavors and convenience, perfect for parties or cozy gatherings.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 2 cups yellow onions, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 package crescent roll dough
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the crescent roll dough package instructions.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and thyme, cooking until the onions are caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
  3. Stir in the beef broth and white vinegar, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Roll out the crescent roll dough and cut it into squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the onion mixture onto each dough square, then top with Gruyere cheese.
  6. Fold the corners of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal.
  7. Place the bites on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, typically about 12-15 minutes.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, caramelize the onions longer and feel free to experiment with different cheeses. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
