- 1 lb Ground chicken
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 small Onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup Chicken broth, low-sodium
- 1 tbsp Tomato paste
- 1/2 cup Tomato sauce, canned
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 1 Black pepper, freshly ground
- 1 tsp Brown sugar
- 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
- 1/4 tsp Paprika
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 4 Brioche hamburger buns
- 2 tbsp Butter, unsalted
- 1 cup Whole milk
- 8 oz Sharp cheddar or American cheese, freshly shredded
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add ground chicken and cook until browned.
- Stir in chicken broth, tomato paste, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, paprika, brown sugar, salt, and freshly ground black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
- Stir in flour to reach your desired thickness.
- In a separate skillet, melt butter and toast the brioche buns.
- Serve the chicken mixture on the toasted buns, topped with shredded cheddar cheese.
Notes
For an extra kick, add more Cajun seasoning or diced jalapeños. This dish pairs well with a simple salad or crispy fries.
