Classic Italian Muffuletta Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 large round loaf of Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup olive salad (a mix of olives, pickled vegetables, and spices)
  • 1/2 pound mortadella, sliced
  • 1/2 pound salami, sliced
  • 1/2 pound ham, sliced
  • 1/2 pound provolone cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Cut the Italian bread in half horizontally and hollow out some of the inside.
  2. Spread the olive salad on the bottom half of the bread.
  3. Layer the mortadella, salami, ham, and provolone cheese on top of the olive salad.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with minced garlic.
  5. Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich, press down gently, and wrap tightly in plastic wrap.
  6. Let the sandwich rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before slicing it into wedges.

Notes

Use good-quality Italian bread for the best flavor and texture. Feel free to add extra vegetables or swap out the meats and cheese to suit your taste.
