- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup white rice, uncooked
- 1/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 head of cabbage
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, uncooked rice, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Remove the core of the cabbage and boil it in salted water until the leaves are tender (about 5-10 minutes).
- Peel off softened leaves and let them cool.
- Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each leaf, fold in the sides, and roll it up tightly.
- Place each stuffed cabbage roll in a baking dish, seam-side down.
- Pour tomato sauce over the rolls, covering them completely.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
Use a large cabbage head for big leaves, and do not overfill. Keep a bowl of warm water to help soften and shape leaves.
