Best Homemade Red Velvet Brownies

Delicious red velvet brownies combine rich chocolate flavor with a fudgy texture, topped with creamy frosting.

Ingredients

  • 5 large Eggs
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 1/4 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups Confectioners sugar
  • 2 tbsp Red food coloring
  • 3 1/2 cups Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 1/4 sticks Unsalted butter
  • 5 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 4 oz Cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp Heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add vanilla and red food coloring to the mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. While the brownies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating the cream cheese and confectioners sugar together, adding heavy cream until smooth.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before spreading the cream cheese frosting on top.
  11. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or drizzle with chocolate syrup for an extra treat.
