Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

A comforting dish featuring tender beef patties topped with creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the chopped onions and garlic until softened.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked onions, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into patties.
  4. Place the patties in a baking dish and pour beef broth over them.
  5. Spread mashed potatoes over the patties.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until meat is cooked through and mashed potatoes are golden.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle shredded cheese on top and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve with green beans or a fresh salad. Drizzle with extra Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.
